Head Chef & Sous Chef

About the position

Every day our guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hostel. As we strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible, we decided in 2021 to go completely vegetarian/vegan.

As the head chef you are in charge of running the kitchen in terms of making schedules, doing stock counts, ordering and picking up groceries and preparing the menu.

Our sous chef will be the first point of contact in the kitchen either for the breakfast/lunch shift or the dinner shift. 

Tasks & Responsibilites

The head chef will be responsible for:

  • Ordering/picking up groceries within the weekly budget
  • Doing a weekly stock count. 
  • Making the weekly menu and schedule. 
  • Running the kitchen according to the HACCP requirements

The sous chef will be responsible for:

  • Making the daily and weekly cleaning lists and task lists for the kitchen team
  • Staying updated on the amount of guests and crew eating with us every day
  • Taking over the head chefs’ role when it’s their day off. 
  • You will either be responsible for the breakfast/lunch shift or the dinner shift.

Skills & Requirements

  • You have experience as a vegetarian chef and have cooked for bigger groups 
  • You know the HACCP requirements
  • You are well organised and responsible
  • Preferably you have worked as a head or sous chef before
  • You are fluent in English 
  • You are at least 25 years old 
  • You have a European passport (or valid working visa)
  • You have a European Drivers’ licence
  • Requirement for head chef: you are familiar with stock counts and budgets as well as other administrative tasks
