There is no Planet B

How Progress and Eden Reforestation Projects are trying to make the world a better and greener place

In times of deforestation, plastic pollution and global warming, Progress Outdoor Surf Hostel is investing time and energy in being a sustainable business. Together with Eden Reforestation Projects (ERP) we are making the world a better, greener place.

We are bombarded with bad and worse news about how mankind is destroying the earth. But in all corners of the world, small and big businesses and projects are working hard to save our little blue planet.

Progress Outdoor Surf Hostel is one of those small businesses that tries to save our planet one booking at a time. Therefore we partnered up with Eden Reforestation Projects. For every night you book at our hostel, we plant one tree. Let us say that again… 1 night = 1 tree!

Who is Eden?

The main focus of Eden Reforestation Projects is building relationships with local communities in different countries. Together they produce, plant and protect tens of millions of trees every month. This creates jobs which support the local communities in restoring their environment as well as their economy on a long term basis. This work comes with a huge range of challenges such as political instabilities, extreme weather conditions, landslides, poachers, bandits and wild animals.

It takes a village to raise a forest

Not only does planting trees help to restore mother earth, but it also creates jobs and fights poverty. These local communities are given new opportunities to become self-sufficient, to improve health and to educate.

The first step of Eden Reforestation Projects is connecting with local communities and building relationships with the community leaders. Because a better planet starts with the will to do better in the first place. The Eden Reforestation Projects want to include the locals and come up with solutions together instead of taking over the work. The ERP lets the communities guide them towards planting opportunities, restoring and protecting the forests and overcoming obstacles.

Furthermore EFP is providing employment to over 10,000 employees. Together they plant nearly a million trees per day in nine different nations around the world.

7550 trees!

For every night you book at Progress Outdoor Surf Hostel, we plant in cooperation with ERP one tree. The more nights you book at our hostel, the more trees are planted in your name. In the summer of 2021 we planted 7550 trees! Thanks to everyone who booked a night at our hostel.

Eden Reforestation Projects wants to plant a minimum of 500 million trees in 2022. Our goal for this year? Planting ten thousand trees with your help.
